A little bit of this, a little bit of that

THeater

DC's Fringe Festival, home to all things experimental, provided the platform for my first full length play, Interviews With in 2015 (awarded “Pick of Fringe” by DC Metro Theater Arts) and an acclaimed collaboration, Play Cupid, described by The Washington Post as a must-see! From 2006 - 2016 I performed as a supernumerary with the Washington National Opera, appearing in nearly a dozen productions at the Kennedy Center. I performed with the Washington Improv Theater from 2013 - 2015 and studied physical theater at Pig Iron in Philadelphia and under the direction of Dody di Santo at the Center for Movement Theater.

Music

I am a very amateur, but avid, fiddle player of Appalachian old-time music and other traditional styles. Mostly self-taught, I spent a brief but formative stint at East Tennessee State University, home to the country’s first Old-Time, Country, and Bluegrass music program. (I played “Li’l Liza Jane” for my audition.) Living in Johnson City marked a before-and-after moment in my musical life…and my life more broadly. It deepened my love for making music and the people who carry traditional tunes forward. For musings about the waxing and waning of my obsession with fiddle tunes, here’s my ancient and outdated blog - “b part”.
